Hillary is ready to spend your money!

Hillary is ready to spend your money!

I’m all for helping anyone who wants to go to college find the way to pay for it.  As a former Stafford Loan recipient, I’m keenly aware of the value of that kind of help.  However, I doubt that everyone needs to college, and some simply don’t want to go.  That hasn’t stopped Hillary from spending more of your hard-earned money to make sure everyone has a college fund.  Today, she proposed $5,000 “baby bonds” as seed money for a college savings plan for every baby born** in the United States.

That sounds great, I guess, but who is going to pay for that?  The US government is going to be handing out the cash, but where does that money come from?  Your pocket.  The not-so-closet Socialist will raise taxes on everyone (except she’ll raise the rich’s the most because those greedy so-and-sos deserve to pay more and probably got their money through dishonest means off the backs of the poor anyway, right?!) to pay for this, completely disregarding the fact that the federal government has absolutely no Constitutional authority to be involved in that.  Bottom line:  she will promise whatever it takes to get elected, and is more than willing to spend your money to get it done.  How generous. :\

* It was a subsidized loan, which means the federal government paid the interest while I was in college.  Sorry about that. ๐Ÿ™‚
** Note the phrase “born in the US.”  Carefully worded to allow covering the children of illegal immigrants.

Unborn Activists?

Unborn Activists?

Here is a pretty interesting article on abortion.  It takes a pretty different perspective to the issue, that of waging the pro-life battle from the perspective of the unborn (possibly aborted) child.  It sounds a bit weird, but it’s a pretty compelling piece.

Liberals Are Now Progressives (Again)

Liberals Are Now Progressives (Again)

Here is a pretty good article about progressives/liberals.  Getting a glimpse into their philosophical origins makes me even more fearful of one these people moving into the West Wing.  His closer is nice:

Unlike the leopard, changing the Constitution with the progressive ideas du jour takes us from the rule of law to the rule of enlightened kings. We rejected that type of rule once already. Perhaps it is time to do so again. Now, that would be progress.

Surgery for Youssif

Surgery for Youssif

Youssif, the five year old Iraqi boy who was attacked by masked gunmen, doused with gasoline and set on fire 9 months ago, is having surgery in the US today to try to reconstruct his face.  Hooray for him.  The men who attacked him (at random apparently) can’t be punished enough, I think, and it’s a wonderful thing that some Americans are footing the bill for his travel and medical expenses.  But why, in this great story of tragedy turned to hope, of the heart warming generosity, does CNN have to turn political and quote this jerk:

In the hospital room next door, Monty Cortes tended to his 6-year-old son being treated for third-degree burns after a go-cart accident last week. He had read about Youssif’s story and had hoped he might be able to see him and his family.

“I think it’s horrible what they did,” he said of Youssif’s attackers. “It almost made me cry.” He added, “I wanted to say I’m sorry to the parents for what we started in Iraq.”

Can’t the editors and “reporters” at CNN set aside their hatred of all things Bush long enough to tell us a great story without making us sit through thinly veiled bias?  I’m not sure why I even read their site anymore.  Slumming, I guess. ๐Ÿ˜

How can he say stuff like this without laughing?  We. They.  Stupid race card and victim mentality.  Apparently, even multi-millionaire sports stars aren’t above saying stupid things like this. ๐Ÿ˜

Unbelievable Logic

Unbelievable Logic

Read this post, paying particular attention to the newspaper scan.  Ashleigh Taylor is convinced that she did the right thing in killing her unborn baby.  Her logic is as as awful as the murder she wrought on her baby:

“I know that I made the right choice….What kind of life would that baby have had knowing that I didn’t even know the surname of the father?… my life would have been ruined.”

So, according to her, it’s better that the baby (and she did admit that it’s a baby, and not a blob of tissue) be killed than knowing that her mother didn’t know the child’s father’s last name.  Further, it’s a much better outcome to deliver the baby (whether dead or alive at this point the article doesn’t state) into a stainless steel tray to be thrown into the trash than “ruin” her life.  The selfishness and callousness is just astounding.  She now states that she hasn’t “had a successful relationship since.”  While there is a part of me that feels some pity for her and the damage she’s brought on herself, I can’t help but be distracted by the relationships her baby will never have because her mom decided that the life she created was too inconvenient to allow to live.  History will not look kindly on us for allowing this infanticide to continue.
