More Hard-to-Understand Lyrics

More Hard-to-Understand Lyrics

Another one of my all time favorite bands is Saviour Machine.  Like the aforementioned 311 song, I decided I’d read the lyrics as the song played.  Not that they’re hard to understand, necessarily.  Just thought I’d do it.  Well, they may be easy to understand, but they’re far from being easy to comprehend.  To wit, from “Love Never Dies“:

Walk by faith and walk by sight,
You’re sanctified with blood and light,
In days of roses, nights sublime,
The prince of passion lives divine.

Love never dies – Love never denies,
Love never lies – Love desperately cries,
Unto the other side,
Unto the unborn child in your eyes.

I think that’s quite a pretty couple of stanzas there, but I’m not sure what he’s saying.  Is anyone else seeing a trend here?  Maybe I am an idiot… πŸ™‚

I should register saviourmachineinterpreted.com, put mediaiwki on it and just let people at it. πŸ˜›

Hey, Hey! Ho, Ho! These stupid unions have to go! Hey, Hey! Ho, Ho!

Hey, Hey! Ho, Ho! These stupid unions have to go! Hey, Hey! Ho, Ho!

I’ve never been a union fan — I’ve often been quite vocal about that.  In case you don’t know, the  Writer’s Guild of America recently went on strike.  What makes this strike more obnoxious is that it’s knocking my favorite show, The Office, off the air. The strike only serves to prove my point about unions, though:  They’re in it for the money.  Says, the Flying Dunce, Sally Field (emphasis added):

[Writers] are not being allowed to participate in the future of the business. This can be a very lucrative field, but also incredibly insecure for all of the artists, writers, actors and directors.

They don’t want safer working conditions or more humane hours as was the case back when unions were respectable.  They want more money, plain and simple.  Here’s the deal:  if you work for someone else and create a work product for that person, then he gets to decide what’s done with it.  I don’t get royalties from software I write;  I get a paycheck.  If you don’t like that, don’t work for someone else.  Start your own studio.  You get no sympathy from me you greedy knuckleheads!

Happy Reformation Day!

Happy Reformation Day!

Today is Reformation Day and marks the 490th anniversary of Martin Luther’s nailing of his 95 theses to the Castle Church door in Wittenberg, Germany on October 31, 1517.  Rather than hearing me blather on about it, I’ll turn things over Stand to Reason here.

The source of one my biggest annoyances is environmentalists, with their de facto commander-in-chief, Saint Al Gore.  Understand that I’m all for being a good steward of the God’s good earth, but these people are beyond the pale.  Which brings me to this article (not to mention a nice sentence fragment).  You should read the whole article, but here are some highlights:

Public Education = Postmodern (Faux) Egalitarianism

Public Education = Postmodern (Faux) Egalitarianism

Every time I think about (if ever so briefly) how cool it would be to load up the truck and move to Beverly, I need to read this story.
There is absolutely no way I’ll let a child of mine attend a school system like California’s. If that non-sense makes it to Oklahoma, I’ll homeschool my boys myself if I have to.

UPDATE: It appears that the Governator has not yet signed the bill, so there might be some for California’s public school attendees yet. Here’s hoping…
