Andrew doesn’t miss a thing
Angela just told me this story:
I said, “Who are Mike and Jeannie?”
He said, “They are on K-lub and someone says don’t miss Mike and Jeannie tomorrow morning.”
What a cool boy, eh? 😛

For about seven years now, Angela has been cutting my hair. We figured we could save a lot of money if we were to just buy a hair cutting kit once, versus paying $10-$15 month. Recently, we started wondering if we could save some time in how we cut my hair. Traditionally, she would clipper the back and the sides, then use scissors and a comb on the top, but that takes a lot of time and is a bit more difficult. What we started wondering is if we could just use clippers, albeit with a longer guard, on the top, replacing the need for scissors.
Well, since we have no major picture/family events any time soon, we decided last night that it was time to try it. We started of with a 7/8″ guard on top, but that seemed too long, so we dropped it down to 1/2″ and let her go to work, which she thought was hilariously awesome. The end result? …
Two great stories on opposite ends of the importance spectrum:
Angela and Andrew were in the car a few days ago, and the radio was on either K-LOVE or Air1, which was playing “The Voice of Truth” by Casting Crowns. At one point in the song, they sing, “Out of all the voices calling out to me, I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of Truth.” At that point, Andrew asked, “Mother, did they just say, ‘I will choose to listen, Andrew Lee?'” 🙂
Let it be known that I, Jason Lee, for only the second time in almost six years of marriage, have beaten my wife at Scrabble, with a final score 250 to 196.
Here is the transcription of a conversation I recently had with Angela, that I’m sure you’ve all had with your respective wives:
Angela: By the way, I organized your closet this afternoon.
Me: Sweet! I’ll dig through the trash tonight to retrieve the good shirts that you threw away.
Angela: None were thrown away, but there is a “do we really need to keep these?” section.
Many a nice articles of clothing have been consigned to the trash can in such situations. We must be vigilent to protect our comfy clothes, right, guys? 😛
A local Baptist church has done the unthinkable. The church body voted last Wednesday night to end the Wednesday Night Meal. What has been for ages a Baptist tradition of sharing a meal on Wednesdays (either every Wednesday or just before a business meeting) is no more Blewize Baptist Church. The senior pastor, Rev. Ray Lee Gont, was quoted as saying, “We’ve searched the New Testament for precedent and found none. There is no admonition, nor any example, of the early church sharing a meal before their Wednesday night meetings. In fact, we couldn’t even find support for Wednesday night meetings themselves, so we’re probably going to take a good long look at that next.” The chairman of the deacons, Jackie S. Prat, added, “For too long it’s been ‘When we meet, we eat.’ That has put a horrible burden on us to get here early enough to eat. Lacking any clear Scriptural guidance, we’ve decided to do away with it altogether.”
This move is not without controversy, though. Members of surrounding churches were shocked at the move. Most expressed dismay that a cherished Baptist tradition could be tossed away so lightly, some even pointing out that the practice is not unique to Baptists at all. Jim Koch, pastor of near by Well Filled Bible Church spoke for many when he said, “I think it’s a shame what they’ve done, but if any of BBC’s congregants would like to be filled on Wednesday nights, we’re just a few blocks away.” He then added with a wink and a smile, “We may even have some dinner.”
Last night, Angela, Andrew and I met some friends at the Bricktown Ballpark for a Redhawks game. We love going there (especially when the tickets are free. Haven’t bought a ticket yet in 5 years of frequent attendace :). An added bonus last night was that it was Thirsy Thursday, meaning all drinks are only $1 (if you don’t mind the tiny cups ;).
It was over 100 degrees, and we had been there a while, so I decided that it was time to take advantage of the drink promotion, so up the stairs, pretty oblivious to what was going on. As I walked up the steps, I noticed everyone looking up at me in horror when I realized that it probably wasn’t me they were looking at. Right about that time, something struck me pretty solidly on my left shoulder and bounced away. Yup. They weren’t looking at me but the foul ball about to hit me, which it did with passion. Luckily, it hit the muscle on my shoulder and not a bone, so it didn’t hurt too badly. Even this morning, it’s just a little tender with no sign of a bruise yet. Kind of funny.
I am able to take away two things from the event, though: a good story, and a very good reminder not to get up and walk around while someone is at bat. 🙂
Mormon apologists and missionaries often assert that Mormonism and Christianity are compatible, if not basically the same, when even a cursory examination of the major tenets of both show that not only are they not the same, they’re not even compatible. At any rate, and on a more light-hearted note, I recently got to thinking what Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) were Mormon (or, CMM):
I could go on and on. Anyhoo, they’re great songs, all of them. I should contact a copyright lawyer and get ready to rake in the bucks!
Last night, I made what I thought was one of my best jokes in a while, but it was not met with the mirth I had expected. We were sitting in church waiting for the service to start and chatting with some friends. I saw in the bulletin that the meal this Wednesday night will be meatloaf, at which point I noted the menu for the others in the conversation, and stated,
“I would do anything for dinner, but I won’t do that.”
Dead silence.
